About Us

Quantum Base is a UK-headquartered quantum science company creating a new global standard in preventing counterfeiting and securing physical products. The company’s shares are listed in the United Kingdom (AIM:QUBE).

Quantum Base was founded in 2013 as a spin-out from the University of Lancaster. The company was established to commercialise Professor Robert Young’s discoveries in the field of quantum physics. Quantum Identities (Q-ID®s) are the first innovation to be commercialised and provide near unbreakable and non-replicable authenticity tags, read with standard smartphones for global level authentication and protection.

Q-IDs harness the inherent and unique imperfections that exist in materials at an atomic level. These imperfections can be measured when excited by light, such as with the flash of a smartphone, and captured, creating a database of unique fingerprint-like identifiers. This creates a secure tag that can be applied to a vast array of products at a low cost, to verify their authenticity using an everyday smartphone and Quantum Base’s software app.

Quantum Base believes that the Q-ID technology has the potential to create a new global standard in authentication that will significantly mitigate global counterfeiting – a global problem that is estimated to cost businesses and tax authorities over $2.8 trillion in lost revenue per year.

Our Purpose

At Quantum Base, our purpose is to create a safer world through the application of groundbreaking science. We aim to create a new global standard in preventing counterfeiting and securing physical products, thus protecting global consumers, governments and brands. Counterfeiting is estimated to cause over one million deaths and cost businesses and tax authorities over $2.8 trillion in lost revenue per year. The Q-ID was created to end this global problem.
